After spending 4 years plus at university, the time finally comes for you to start looking for work as a teacher. You may have an idea of a few schools that you feel you would fit in well at, but it may be that there is not currently any position available at those places. Firstly you need to decide what age children you would like to teach. If you want to teach primary school age then you may decide to only apply for jobs teaching reception for example. If you do this you need to be aware that at some point you may be asked to move to teach another year group.

Location may also be a factor that you need to consider. If you do not drive then you will find that your choices are very limited and you may have to be prepared to relocate once you have got a job. City schools are often quite different to rural schools. If you want to go to a school that is a little bit more laid back then a rural school setting may be more suited.

You could always register with a teaching agency and do some temping work in a few different schools to get a feel for what you think would suit you.
