Understanding the recruitment process

If you own or run a business and there has come a time when you feel like to need more members of staff to run the business properly then you will have to decide how you are going to go about recruiting them.  Not all companies use the same methods for recruiting staff. Some choose to advertise it themselves and carry out the recruitment process including analysing CV’s and handling interviews in house. Whereas others may choose to outsource the recruiting of new staff members to an agency.

You will have to pay for the services of a recruitment agency to fill positions and this can be in to the thousands for permanent members of staff but you often find that the process is quicker, you only have to get involved when suitable candidates have been found and it involves less admin and time for you other existing staff members. .

Most recruitment agencies will go through a process of vetting all applicants first before sending them to you and they will often conduct a mini interview over the phone to see if they are suitable. Once they have a candidate that they believe would be suited to the position they will then pass their details on to you to read through (often not enclosing personal details and contact information to stop you from contacting them directly). If you approve then they will contact their client and ask if they would like to invite them in for an interview.
