Completing an Application Form

When applying for a new job completing the application form can seem tedious especially as a lot of the information it is asking for will already be on your CV. However it is a necessary task and the way that you complete the application form can say a lot about you to a potential new employer so it really is worth giving it some thought.

The first thing to do is to read through the whole of the application form to see what is required, after that make notes on a separate sheet with regards to specific requests they have made such as ‘write in black ink’ or ‘must be hand written’. These things may seem a bit pedantic but they are sometimes put on forms to check how well you have read the form and if you are able to follow basic instruction.

If you know that your handwriting is not very neat and there is nothing to say the application needs to be hand written then you may want to scan the document and type up the application to give the neatest presentation of your form. Read each section carefully and try to answer fully but without waffling, and before returning the form ALWAYS proof read the document to ensure that you have not made any mistakes.
