Does having a variety of jobs look bad on a CV?

People often worry when it comes to writing their CV that they have not had many different jobs, therefore do not have much to say. A CV isn’t really about the amount of jobs you have had, more about the relevant qualifications and experience you have. If you have only had one or two jobs, do not try to write paragraph upon paragraph to try and fill up the page, simply state what you have done and what skills / training you have had.

Often a person that has had only one or two jobs over the course of a long period can be more attractive to employers than someone who has had seven or eight different posts in a short space of time. This is because employers want to look for someone who is looking to develop their career with them and not leave at the drop of a hat. If you have had a few jobs that have only lasted six months or so, you will need to expect the interviewer to question this. It may be that you have a very valid reason, but if you do not have the answers they may think that you have no sticking power and therefor are not for them.
